It's been a while since I've remembered to take photos of my garden for you, but today is lovely and sunny so it inspired me to get snapping.
Summer has been and gone (if indeed it happened at all) and now that it's autumn, my tomatoes have finally decided to ripen.

Heavy winds have blown quite a few apples off our tree, which is a convenient way to pick them. I've been making
lacto-fermented apple sauce and
apple cinnamon oat muffins with them.
My Scarlet Runner Beans are producing well. I've been freezing some, eating some raw and cooking the rest with whatever we're having for dinner. I've found they're nice sautéed in butter with this
cabbage and cumin seed recipe.

A few cherry tomato plants self-seeded in my carrot and beetroot garden, and were the first to turn red out of all the tomato plants in my garden.

We've eaten all the potatoes from the raised garden I
built out of an old bed. Now I'm just waiting for my broccoli to produce something edible. The plants are massive, but I've only had a few tiny sprouts off one of them.

I cleared a lot of the creeper growing over my herb wall, and the trailing rosemary plants are flourishing with the extra breathing space.

The ground around my original raised garden is being taken over by rhubarb, strawberries and parsley.

All the cherry tomato plants I planted along this wall seem to have congregated around the passionfruit vines, even though I tried to plant them well away from the vines. It's like they're attracted to each other.
My two zucchini plants are looking a bit battered and bruised after some heavy winds recently, but they're still producing zucchinis so I'll keep them on for as long as I can.

I enjoyed your pictures! Very inspiring. This will be my first year gardening. We are moving to an apartment with a balcony in a few weeks so will finally get to do a little bit of gardening! (We have never had any outdoor space before.) It will just be some plants in containers but I'm excited. :)
ReplyDeletehey great site, wish id come across it earlier. Our tomatoes are only just ripening too. There are lots of them just slowly doing there thing.
ReplyDeleteWe had a good run of pumpkins this year (for our size of garden), already harvested around 8 and have have a few more on there way.
As usual we had too much lettuce and lots of zuchinnis (alot turned to marrows). I always encourage people who arent confident in gardening to plant them as they are so easy to grow and get big very quick
Looking good Emma! I hope I can grow carrots as good as yours. Funny how the cherry tomatoes always do well in my garden too, and mow my husband will finally eat them (for ages they were not good enough compared to the proper big ones).
